Our national capital region just made the “Global Top 30”, a list of the world’s most populous, productive, and connected cities as ranked by Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL), a global property consulting firm, according to a report from the Inquirer.

Metro Manila is ranked 30th on the list, leaping from its former rank of 37th in 2013, marking this as the first time the Philippine capital region has joined the uppermost ranking of the world’s leading 300 cities.

The global ranking is based on population, GDP, corporate presence, air connectivity, commercial real estate stock, and real estate investment volumes, according to the report.

According to the report, JLL said that the biggest challenge for Metro Manila is to immediately improve infrastructure, as every city in the world is striving to keep up with rapid urbanization.

Metro Manila joins megacities such as New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, Singapore, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Atlanta, Frankfurt, Dallas, Toronto, Houston, Boston, and Sydney. Emerging cities such as Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Seoul, Beijing, Moscow, Jakarta, Istanbul, Guangzhou, Mexico City, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangkok are also part of the list.

What do you think of this? What do you think Metro Manila should focus its immediate priority on?
