Melanie Marquez Reveals Her ‘Artistic’ Side

When in Manila, who could ever forget the famous lines,“Don’t judge me, I’m not a book!” That English faux pas was popularized by none other than beauty queen/model/actress Melanie Marquez. The 1979 Miss International be famous for her statuesque figure, Pinay beauty and funny antics, but there is definitely more to her than meets the eye.

What you may not know is that she can paint (and her works are pretty impressive too!).  In fact, she has been doing it for 25 years. But now will be the right time to show her artistic side as she will join the other beauty queens in participating for the “ART AND BEAUTY-A Painting Exhibit by Beauty Queens” Event.

Marquez said what makes her work unique is that she used candle wax for her masterpieces. “I used candle, molten rocks… I want to be different if ever I’m going to show something. Sa totoo lang, under stress ako ni Maria Isabel kasi kinukulit niya ako. Nililigawan niya ako to do something kahit isa lang daw… I prayed a lot. What I did is sketch it and make it happen,” she said.
