Man Proposes to Girlfriend with 99 iPhone 6 handsets, Gets Rejected

According to Wikipedia, Single’s Day is a popular event in China celebrated every November 11. It is the day for people who are single, which relates singles and the number one (1).  However, the four “ones” (11 / 11) of the date can also mean “only one” or “the only one for me.” Thus, some people use this day to tell their significant other that they are the only “one” in their heart with offers of grandiose gifts.Â

In celebration of this year’s Single’s Day, the Nanfang website posted a story of a man in China who made a grand gesture of proposing to his girlfriend before Single’s day. The man had 99 iPhone 6 handsets arranged in a shape of a heart while popping the question to his girlfriend. Unfortunately, even with this gesture, she declined his offer.
The reason behind? We don’t know.

The Guangzhou programmer was believed to have spent over US$80,000 to purchase the 99 iPhone 6 devices. According to Tencent News, the guy had to save two years worth of his salary to get all those iPhones.
Wow. I guess money can buy you a lot of iPhone handsets, but it can’t buy you love.
