Mamamamayan/Mamamahayag 3.0 Forum: Media Literacy and Awareness Campaign

The UP Journalism Club invites you to Mamamamayan/Mamamahayag 3.0 (M/M 3.0) forum, with the theme “Faces & Phrases: Understanding Undertones in Elections and the Media”.

M/M 3.0 is a media literacy and awareness campaign that aims to provide a venue for discourse among college students about the relevance of responsible media consumption and youth participation in the upcoming nationwide polls. A COMELEC-endorsed series of activities, M/M 3.0 aims to engage the so-called “youth vote” of the Philippines.

Mamamamayan/Mamamahayag 3.0 Forum: Media Literacy and Awareness Campaign

True to its goals, M/M 3.0 featured an online social media campaign which ran from March 14-21. On April 4 and 5, a mock elections tour was held in the four leading universities of the country: Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle University Manila (DLSU), University of Santo Tomas (UST) and University of the Philippines Diliman. Youth leaders from the UP Journalism Club, together with its partners Ang Pahayagang Plaridel of DLSU, the Ateneo Association for Communications Technology Management of ADMU, and Aktiboto from UST, organized the said tour.

Also supporting these activities were the UP Diliman University Student Council and the UP CMC Student Council, as well as its media partners: UP CMC’s Tinig ng Plaridel and When In Manila.

Join us in enriching our understanding of the the importance of political and educated media product consumption on the 7th of April, at the College of Mass Communication in the University of the Philippines Diliman. With us will be political analyst Professor Edmund Tayao, GMA Network social media manager Mr. Ederic Eder, and former dean of the UP College of Mass Communication, Professor Luis Teodoro, a political commentator for BusinessWorld.
