NBC, an American commercial broadcast television network, is working on a new half-hour comedy show entitled “Mail Order Family.”

Apparently, the sitcom is about a widowed single father who orders a Filipina mail-order bride to help raise his two daughters.

“Mail Order Family” is written and produced by Jackie Clarke. According to Mic.com, the story is loosely based on Clarke’s family.

The announcement about the show received some criticisms on Twitter.

Clarke co-produced the show with Ruben Fleischer. Both are from NBC’s Superstore.

NBC gave the go signal for “Mail Order Family” due to the increasing scrutiny about the scarcity of Asian representation on TV.
