Lord of the Rings Series

In 2001, the geek community was #shookt when “The Fellowship of the Ring,” the first in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, was adapted into a movie by Peter Jackson. It was then followed by “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King.

” Now, the geek community will be shookt again because the timeless story will be turned into a series.

The Lord of the Rings series will be developed by Amazon, which reportedly bought the rights for a whopping $250 million, which includes a multi-season commitment and the possibility of spin-offs.

The trilogy follows the hobbits Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merry Brandybuck, and Pippin Took; the wizard Gandalf the Grey; the elf Legolas; the dwarf Gimli; and men Aragorn and Boromir to deliver the legendary One Ring to Mount Doom in Mordor, the one place it can be destroyed.

The novel was written by JRR Tolkien in 1955 and has been adapted many times for radio, theater, and film.

The film trilogy by Jackson is one of the most successful franchises of all time, winning 17 out of its 30 Academy Award nominations. “The Return of the King” won all 11 nominations.

There’s no word what the series will be about but it promises to be a fantastic watch.
