LOOK: You Can Sleep in a “Bubble” in Iceland to Watch the Northern Lights

It’s probably a dream of almost everyone to, at least, once in their life witness the Aurora Borealis light up the night sky. Which is why Róbert Sveinn Róbertsson created these “Bubbles” in Biskupstungur, Iceland, which is a unique way to be one with nature and still have a comfortable good night’s sleep.

Iceland’s low temperature of course contributes a huge factor to the creation of these bubbles. Made of transparent plastic, warm air is pumped into the dome-like structures at a steady rate to keep it inflated and warm. The bubble stands on a wooden platform with a comfortable double bed that gives you a perfect view of the sky and trees. Róbertsson shares: “Lying inside the bubble is just wonderful. To turn all lights off and be outside in nature. The world and the sky somehow just open up to you. It’s a very unusual experience that I can’t really describe.”

The Bubble is now known as “The five million star hotel.” A night’s stay for two costs around $200, but with an experience like this, it would all surely be worth it.
