The milk tea craze has swept over the world. Since the rise of this trend, more and more milk tea shops have been popping up and trying to tweak and renew what has been made common.
One of those putting a spin to the trend is The Selftea Lab, where you are invited to take your selfie game to the next level.

Here’s how it works: have your photo taken by the employee, order a milk tea of your choice, and once your drink is made, watch the magic unfold in less than ten seconds.
Don’t be mistaken—as clean-cut as it looks, the image is not printed on the cover, but on the cream.
The image is then printed on top of the thick-coated cream. As mentioned beforehand, the printing process itself takes only less than ten seconds. Of course, the ink for the image used is edible and tasteless.
For those who choose to enjoy their drink without their faces on it, that’s okay, too.
There’s a wide range of flavors to choose from in The Selftea Lab—you’ll find the selections even more inclusive than that of the usual milk tea place. Its best-sellers are Okinawa, Wintermelon, Matcha, Strawberry, Oreo, and Taro.
While the anatomy of their milk tea is similar to any other, what sets it apart from the rest is the selfie addition you get for the same price a normal milk tea would be in other stores. Prices start at around Php 55.
What’s more, you can easily have your drinks to-go since the printed image stays in place. There’s no need to worry that your movements might ruin your “selftea”. The image only starts to blur once much time has passed by, but it’s still recognizable all the same.
As a milk tea lover myself, the drink I had from The Selftea Lab was definitely at par with the standards I have of milk tea.
Currently, The Selftea Lab has a total of 12 branches and counting: SM North Edsa, SM Manila, SM Clark, SM Downtown, SM Pampanga, SM Telabastagan, SM Lucena, SM Calamba, SM Bacoor, SM Dasma, SM Trece, and Festival Mall. The store is open for franchising.
