Beauty queens are known for, well, their beauty and brains, but for Zahra Bianca Saldua, she has another trait in her arsenal of skills: she has brawn, too. That’s because the titleholder of the Miss Air crown in last year’s Miss Earth pageant is also a newly-minted lieutenant in the Philippine Army!
In a Facebook post, Saldua said, “I have become one of the newest members of the Army Reserve Component. Since I was in college being part of ROTC, I always wanted to serve our country. I always wanted to help the people and I wanted to be a part of the future of the Philippine Army being its representative to the public.”
Saldua’s journey in the army began three years ago when she hosted the Senior Leaders’ Conference. From there, she hosted more events, until she decided to join as well. Now, she is 2nd Lieutenant of the Army Reserve Component.

The beauty queen’s journey to the crown began when she joined the Miss World in 2013 and won second princess. Last year, she was crowned Miss Earth Philippines Air.
