LOOK: Shannen Doherty Shares Her “Chemo Day” Images as A Sign of Hope and Resilience

One of my favorite American TV series back in the day was “Charmed.” It was about the three powerful sisters, who are good witches and use their combined ‘Power of Three” charm to protect innocent lives from bad elements like demons and warlocks.

My favorite character was Shannen Doherty, who played as the elder sister and has a power through telekinesis. Her screen name was “Prue Halliwell,” which I loved so much to the point of naming my daughter after her.  (But, I ended up using Jersey from Coyote Ugly)

Her character also portrayed a strong astral projection power, which allows her to be in two places. She was essentially regarded as the strongest and most powerful witch among the Halliwell sisters. I guess Shannen’s onscreen character was all along her innate characteristics: powerful and resilient.

In an article shared by LittleThings.com, it showed images of Shannen’s painful, yet hopeful chemotherapy/breast cancer journey.

Shannen was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last 2015.  She has always been transparent about her battle with the disease through her photos shared on Instagram.

She captioned this photo with: “The many faces of cancer. Chemo Day. What we call the Red Devil being injected into me via the port that’s in my chest. Dawn is my nurse who takes excellent care of me August 10, 2016, #cancersucks #fightlikeagirl”

Her battle with breast cancer isn’t that easy. She’s had her share of bad and victorious moments, too.

She is hopeful because of her strong support “dream team” like her Oncologist:

With an uplifting caption: “theshando#themanyfacesofcancer. My oncologist, Dr Lawrence Piro and I have a great relationship, one of mutual respect. He respects that I always come in with new questions and he takes the time to address and answer all of them…. I like to say I’m his favorite patient but I have a feeling all of us think that. The key is to find a doctor who listens to you and appreciates your concerns. Not every cancer patient is the same. Also, it took me a lot of meetings to find my dream team. Don’t settle#dontbeafraidtoquestion #research#lovemydoctors”

One of the “members” of her “dream team,” is her mom:

And most especially, her husband, whom she refers to as her true friend and true love.

As originally said in the Littlethings.com article, her husband has been her rock. Despite this challenging phase of their lives, they celebrated their 5-year wedding anniversary in Mexico.

Prue or Shannen, thank you for showing how to #fightlikeagirl and how to beat this stupid #cancer. I hope our doctors and scientists will soon be able to find a cure.

Let’s show Shannen our support by sharing this uplifting story about her. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.Â
