LOOK: Photo of toilet inside PNR station goes viral

A post by Ehm Diolata is going viral on Facebook.

The post shows a photo of what they said to be a toilet in a PNR station. It was not mentioned which PNR station this was taken.

What took the attention of people online is that there are three toilet bowls installed in a row with no walls separating them.

Ehm’s post said:

I wasn’t aware that my post about the toilet in PNR España Station has reached 1.8k shares already.

My post was not meant to humiliate any person or government body. T’was merely for fun, and out of concern as well. I am a PNR commuter since I was a child. I’m a proud Batang Riles, Batang Sta. Mesa. 1f64b 200d 2640? That day was the first time I saw a toilet inside a PNR Station. Malinis ang toilet, pero walang divider ang tatlong urinal bowl na naka-install.

Nakakaproud makita ang improvements ng PNR from their ticketing system to the newly built stations, to the very accommodating staff.

And thanks to Department of Transportation – Philippines and PNR for reaching out. They will be releasing their official statements soon. And hopefully, mas maging maayos ang mga facilities nila.

The Department of Transportation responded with a post about the photo.

This refers to the post of Ms. Ehm Diolata concerning KBK Toilet Facilities in Philippine National Railways (PNR) stations.

According to PNR GM Junn Magno, KBK Toilet Facilities (short for Kayo and Boss Ko Toilet) were among the projects of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) in 2012.

The project was procured by DOTC separately, one for civil works and the other for supply of the materials, hence, the project was not implemented due to absence of coordination even after the end of the term of the past administration.

PNR was given 20 facilities in Tutuban, Blumentritt, Laon-laan, España, Sta.Mesa, Pandacan, Pasay Road, EDSA, FTI, BIcutan, Sucat, calamba, San Pablo, Lucena, Tagkawayan, Sipocot, Naga, Iriga, Ligao and Legazpi stations.

The KBK toilet is merely a structure built on PNR stations but no facility/ies can be found inside to be able to serve its purpose. Until today, the project was not turned over to PNR, thus, its repair and maintenance cannot be assumed by PNR.

PNR is recommending to DOTr blacklisting proceedings for the KBK contractors and officially handover the project to PNR for proper closure of the project.
