2017 is turning out to be a momentous year. After finishing 2016 and all its dramas, we welcome the year with the universe’s most beautiful girls for the Miss Universe pageant, which will be held in Manila. The last time the pageant was held in the Philippines was in 1994, so this is going to be a special year for us.
The pageant isn’t until December 30, but the 86 contestants have been busy since they arrived in the Philippines. So far, the girls visited Boracay, Cebu, Davao, Vigan, and Batangas, where they swam with whale sharks, checked out the heritage, and had glamorous photo shoots.
Check out some of the photos of the Miss Universe contestants in their trip to Boracay and the Governor’s Ball, one of the most important nights of the pageant. The photos were shared by PLDT-Smart, which has access to exclusive contents, events, and updates on the Miss Universe.
Miss Universe in Boracay
For the first Miss Universe preliminary event, 16 girls flew to Boracay for a day of fun activities. Misses Argentina, Australia, Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guyana, Honduras, Malta, Myanmar, Namibia, Nicaragua, Poland, Turkey, and US Virgin Islands joined a basket weaving class, made fish houses as part of Shangri-La’s CSR project, and got on a dragon boat.
Miss Universe Governor’s Ball
The Miss Universe Governor’s Ball officially marks the start of the pageant. The glamorous affair was attended by all the contestants, who were joined by previous Filipina Miss Universe contestants, including Pia Wurtzbach (reigning), Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), and MJ Lastimosa (2014).
Personalities from showbiz, politics, and society also graced the event.
