LOOK: Michael Cinco’s Paris Fashion Week Collection Features Filipino Materials

Fashion designer Michael Cinco is already considered an international star, what with celebrities like Sofia Vergara, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Fergie, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez, Mila Kunis, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and Nicole Scherzinger  wearing his creations. His clothes have also been featured in the 16th cycle of America’s Next Top Model. Despite his global fame, he sure hasn’t forgotten his roots as his collection for the Paris Fashion Week features Filipino fabrics.

Cinco made news late last month when he was reported to present at the prestigious Paris Fashion Week, becoming the first Filipino to do so. In his collection for the collaborative show “COUTURiSSIMO,” his 30-piece Autumn/Winter 2016 couture and ready-to-wear collection featured “barong-inspired” and terno dresses using ikat, banig and solihiya embroidery pattern made from micro beads.

The show was held on July 3 at the Tuileries Garden. It was presented by Asian Couture Federation, where Cinco is a member.
