One of our readers, Kristine Sumugat, shared the following photo with us. It is a photo taken from the top that shows a human flag formed in the school grounds.
In Kalibo, Aklan, a total of 1,140 students and teachers formed a Philippine human flag on July 19, 2017 at Regional Science High School for Region VI.
This was initiated by the school’s Supreme Student Government (SSG) Adviser and Araling Panlipunan Coordinator, Ms. Josephine P. Vicente together with the SSG Officers in collaboration with the school administration, teaching and non-teaching staff and alumni association.
This was conducted to commemorate the National Flag Month and celebrate the 156th birthday of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
A candle lighting ceremony and a prayer were also offered to the citizens and Filipino soldiers gravely affected by the Marawi siege.
This is said to be the very first human flag made in the history of the Province of Aklan.
