Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, together with the Manila Chinatown Development Council and the City Government of Manila, are ready to once again host the Philippine’s largest and most anticipated Chinese New Year celebration to welcome the Year of the Dog.

Celebrated in Binondo, the world’s oldest Chinatown, the annual Chinese New Year celebration at Lucky Chinatown is a Guinness World record holder and features two weeks of attractions, promos and events, highlighted by the Chinese New Year Countdown on the eve of the lunar New Year.

The performances will kick off at February 15 with a countdown concert headlined by Bamboo and Orange and Lemons, with Reese Lansangan, Autotelic, Kaye Cal, and celebrity magician, the “Quick Mask Artist” Tito Cris Castro. And, of course, the stroke of midnight calls upon an LED Lion Dance and drummers to welcome the Chinese New Year with a grand fireworks display.

8. Performances and feng shui forecast seminar

Catch Silent Sanctuary and Soapdish on their performances on February 16, plus Cultural Shows, a Feng Shui Forecast seminar with Johnson Chua, a Dragon and Lion Dance, plus traditional Chinese mascot performances around the mall.

On February 17 at 4:00PM, celebrity sweethearts Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona will take the stage, along with singer songwriter Caleb Santos and talented boyband The Juans.

7. A dog fashion show

Because it’s the Year of the Dog, on February 18 at 2 PM, Lucky Chinatown will put the spotlight on man’s best friend. Barking in Style is a Dog Fashion Show at the Atrium featuring costumed canines followed by a performance from Sponge Cola and a Feng Shui talk with Master Hans Cua.

Visitors are also invited to take part in the 8 Lucky Rituals or traditional Chinese practices that will be available in Lucky Chinatown from February 5 to 18. The rituals are designed to allow guests to welcome greater prosperity and luck for 2018. These include the Lighting of the First Incense, Ringing of the Gong, the Lucky Lantern, 6 Laughing Buddhas, Lucky Talismans, The Wishing Tree, The Astrological Forecasts, and the God of Wealth.
