Interest in pandas recently rose because of those challenges where you have to look for the hidden panda in a series of pictures. Hungarian artist Dudolf started the trend when he made an illustration of a group of snowmen with a hidden panda (He followed this up with a picture of owls with a hidden cat). This was followed by Espen Westum’s illustration, where you had to find the panda in a sea of black metal artists. And of course, there’s also the challenge where you had to find the bear in a real-life photo.
It’s good that there’s so much interest in pandas, because it is the rarest bear on the planet, with only 1,600 outside of captivity. They are are listed as endangered by World Conservation Union’s (IUCN’s) Red List of Threatened Species.
In an effort to raise awareness to the panda’s plight, Russian artist Ilja Klemencov created this optical illusion where, you guessed it, you’ll have to find the missing panda.
