LOOK: These Couples Got Engaged at Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic Manila Concert!

I was busy watching Bruno Mars perform during his 24K Magic World Tour concert at Mall of Asia Arena last May 4 when my seatmate started getting kilig. I wondered why. I asked her why and she said somebody in the VIP section of the arena had just proposed to his girlfriend! I looked for that precious moment and felt so happy for the couple! I am wondering at this very moment if I would ever experience the same thing someday.

Robert Anthony T. Hojas (or “Robby” for short) proposed to his girlfriend Krista Ian G. Sanson. They celebrated their 2 years and 5 months together last May 6.

Robby narrated the story behind his marriage proposal: he had been planning to propose to Krista and had been looking for an engagement ring that he and Krista would love since January. He got the ring last April 27 and thought it was late, but realized it was actually perfect timing because Bruno Mars was going to have his concert here in May. He decided to propose on the night of the concert night.

While wondering which song he would propose to, he and his friends searched for Bruno’s 24K Magic World Tour setlist. He first picked “Versace On The Floor”, but realized it was not the right song for a marriage proposal. He then considered “Just The Way You Are”; but since it wasn’t going to be played until near the end of the concert, he thought the crowd might be too wild by then.

He finally chose “Marry You,” a song clearly perfect for the moment. He shared that he asked his siblings and friends and Krista’s siblings to turn on the flashlights on their phones and surround him and Krista once they heard Bruno performing “Marry You.” He recalled it was really a special night  and they were both really happy because they were with the people close to their hearts.

The day after the concert, I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed when I learned about another couple who got engaged, too!

 

Miguel E. Barbosa, MD and Aleli Gia Demzi A. Bautista, RN have been together for eight years now. Their 8th anniversary was on April 18.

Miguel shared that he felt like it would be special to propose to Gia at Bruno’s concert because the multi-Grammy award winner is his favorite artist and the song “Marry You” would be played that night. He also considered the fact that they both know they are at the right age to get married.

He bought tickets last September and since then, he has been planning his marriage proposal. He thought that if he would pass the Specialty Board for ER Medicine, he and Gia would have a double celebration that night. Fortunately, he also passed the Specialty Diplomate last April 24. (Oh, Gia is surely a proud girlfriend!)  Last May 4, they had a triumphant moment – a night full of celebrations!
