LOCAL LOVE Philippines: Go Loco with True Filipino Pride

Never fail to discover and embrace who we truly are as a Filipino, that is by loving what is local and what is genuinely ours.

It is because of this that Local Love Philippines came up with basket selections that will indeed make you burst with Filipino pride. Our nation is rich in resources and blessed with creative individuals who genuinely produce a wide variety of products that are as good as or even better than imported ones. Such is Local Love Philippines.

Being a “probinsyana” myself, I have a heart for anything local and traditional. Thus, having found out that there is a company like Local Love Philippines really made me burst with Filipino pride. Local Love Philippines actually promotes multiple local products from different parts of the country, convincing me that now is definitely the time to embrace local products even more.

Now is the perfect timing for this particular brand, though, as we are already gearing up for the upcoming holidays. What could be a greater gift for your friends, relatives and family members or even for yourself other than a basket loaded with goodies that will absolutely spark up Filipino pride? I can personally attest that these local products are of good quality. In fact, even I was surprised that we can make products THIS GOOD.

For this coming holiday season, Local Love Philippines created perfect gift selections in one local gift basket with choices from over 70 homegrown goods from wine, coffee, chocolate, rice, biscuits and jams. All of these products came from 25 localities in the Philippines (Albay, Antique, Bacolod, Baguio, Batangas, Benguet, Butuan, Cebu, Cotabato, Davao, Isabela, Kalinga, Legaspi, Laguna, Marinduque, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Malabon, Navotas, Sorsogon, Legaspi, Palawan, and Vigan.)

The price of each pre-made basket ranges from Php300 to Php2,000 depending on the size. They offer Medium and Big Baskets like the one below. You can check out more details on the basket selections in their Facebook page listed at the end of the article. You can even make your very own selections if you want.

I opted for a basket with goodies for breakfast, snacks and dessert: ginger tea from Palawan, squash ketchup from Rizal, crispy squid fritters and crispy fish fritters from Navotas, honey turmeric vinegar from Batangas, chili oil from Malabon, bangus in oil from Butuan City, rice wine from Nueva Ecija, arrowroot cookies from Marinduque, 70% dark chocolate from Davao, a spicy chocolate bar from Cotabato and cacao drops from Cebu.

These baskets are a must-try and satisfaction is guaranteed. Taste-wise, they all perfectly suited the Filipino palate and I probably won’t hesitate getting another basket when I finished all of my local goodies. I only have a few left, by the way. *wink*

That’s not all, either. To complete your local holiday basket, they include a sandok made of coconut hull and anahaw wood from Sorsogon (my home province), a chocolate cup set from Sorsogon and a handwoven table runner from Ilocos Sur. The perfect holiday gift it is!

There is so much to explore in terms of our local products and the good thing about it is that you don’t have to travel far to get them. Local Love Philippines also deliver right at your doorstep and they make sure that all of their products are freshly made.

As Local Love Philippines put it:

“LOCAL LOVE is one with the FARMERS, the FISHERMEN, the CRAFTSMEN, the HOMEMAKER, the INDIGENOUS groups…We are ONE with the NATION in supporting local PRODUCE, encouraging local CRAFTMANSHIP, and patronizing local ART. And we’re sharing what we’ve seen, heard, tasted, and experienced to the KINDRED HEARTS out there. We’re building BRIDGES on water…we’re treading on PATHWAYS…we’re fostering a COMMUNITY of local-loving people.”

It is a well-said advocacy and it is time we show our support as a Filipino. So….let’s LOVE LOCAL.
