Launchpad: Building Ideas to Success

“A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.” –Nolan Bushnell, entrepreneur.

Experience inspiration-hunting like you never have before as the Ateneo Management Association introduces one of its new projects, Launchpad, which will be on October 21-23, 2016 at Robinsons Galleria Activity Area.

In the rise of startup businesses and social entrepreneurship nowadays, the Ateneo Management Association (AMA), being a community of management majors in the Ateneo, aims to create socially aware entrepreneurs. The organization promotes entrepreneurship by providing venues for learning and practice, such as Launchpad. Established last 2015 in collaboration with Blast Off – a talk series featuring successful entrepreneurs, Launchpad is a relatively new project of AMA.

Last year, Launchpad featured innovative products from John Gokongwei School of Management Business Accelerator (SOMBA), which is a program for students who want to develop their start-up businesses into a more mature stage under the supervision of assigned mentors. This year, Launchpad will be bigger and better. In partnership with Robinsons Malls’ Entrep Corner that supports young entrepreneurs, Launchpad will serve as a product launch not only of SOMBA groups, but also of other student-run businesses. Started in December 2005, the Entrep Corner seeks to develop the entrepreneurial skills of enterprising students by providing them retail spaces in Robinsons Malls where they could showcase their products and services; giving them actual retail experience from profitability assessment, productive development, visual merchandising, packaging, pricing and inventory, up to marketing.

This year’s Launchpad will be a three-day weekend bazaar that will give the nineteen SOMBA stall owners and other student-run businesses, their first shot at showcasing and marketing their products to the public. It will also serve as avenue to attract possible investors for these startups. The theme of this year’s event will be “building blocks,” which reflects the core of entrepreneurship – people working on their ideas together to create a solid foundation that leads to something great.
