LANDOPH: PBA, UAAP Games Postponed Due To Lando

With Typhoon Lando’s (International name: Koppu) arrival into Philippines over the weekend, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) were forced to postpone games as Lando hits the country with strong wind and rain.

The PBA was scheduled to open their 41st season on Sunday, October 18, At the Smart Araneta Coliseum. But due to bad weather, the association decided to reschedule its opening to Wednesday, when Lando is expected to weaken.

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Star Hotshots were scheduled for the opening game.

UAAP was also forced to reschedule events due to severe weather conditions. Events that were postponed were: Men’s basketball, beach volleyball (men and women’s division), and table tennis matches.

Games for the beach volleyball event, scheduled on Monday, were rescheduled to Wednesday. Ateneo will be facing off against De La Salle in the women’s semifinals and against UST in the Men’s finals. The winner of the women’s semifinals match will play against the FEU Tamaraws, which will also take place on Wednesday.

The beach volleyball games will take place at the Mall of Asia Sands By The Bay.

UAAP, however, has yet to announce the new schedule for the Men’s basketball tournament which was scheduled on Sunday. The UP fighting maroons was set to go up against UE, while the Far Eastern University was scheduled to play against the green archers at the MOA Arena.
