It’s undeniable that Kpop has really become one of the most influential trends to ever hit the country (or the world, perhaps). Kpop has redefined music and aesthetics of pop culture, bringing in a more extravagant addition to the rather colorful existing culture that we have here in the Philippines. There came a time when everyone seemed to be so hooked with Korean dramas, when each teenage girl would have a crush on one of the members of Super Junior, and when everyone knew how to collectively sing Wonder girl’s “Nobody, Nobody.”
Up until today, KPop is still very evident with our everyday life, and has continued to take over the worlds of Filipinos. This influence is what sparked the creation of KPub BBQ, a chain of restaurants offering an authentic experience of Korean Barbecue, serving sumptuous Korean dishes for a very affordable price — and then some.
Our team was able to visit their Trinoma branch, located at the 3rd floor garden area, and we were welcomed with their warm staff, ushering us inside a pub-cum-restaurant, with smokeless grills and huge LED Televisions with KPop stars serenading the customers. The place can accommodate up to 300 guests, with two VIP areas for those who would like to have their own personal party. The ambiance was very KPop indeed, with its bluish lights and huge Kpop-inspired portraits. Even the waiters are very hip, with their LED name tags and layered clothing.
What makes KPub different from the usual Korean Barbecue places is their variety of food and serving. Unlike most buffet, KPub actually has four eat all you can options for guests, as well as ala carte serving for those who do not like to indulge as much.
The cheapest option for eat all you can is their 499 promo, where in you’ll be given an hour to enjoy unlimited servings of Chadol Baki (Beef Sukiyaki), Samgyeopsal (Pork Belly), Daepae Samgyeopsal (Korean Style Bacon), Yangnyem Samgyeopsal (Marinated Pork Belly in Sweet & Spicy Sauce), Dwaeji Galbi (Marinated Pork Chop), Dak Galbi (Marinated Chicken in Sweet & Spicy Sauce), and Dak Bulgogi (Marinated Chicken in Sweet Soy Sauce). It also comes with side dishes, steamed egg, kimchi-pajeon, steamed rice and kimchi fried rice, soup, house salad, ssam (lettuce), and iced tea.
However, if you want to take it up a notch, they also have the 699 promo, which also gives customers an hour to enjoy unlimited offerings from the 499 promo, plus Cream Dori Bulgogi (Marinated Fish Fillet in Sweet Soy Sauce), Saewoo (Garlic Butter Shrimp), Ojingeo Tuigim (Calamari), Uhmuk (Fish Tofu), Yang Gogi (Lamb Chorizo), Korean Pizzas, Kimbap (Dried Seaweed Roll with Kimchi or Beef Bulgogi), and Japchae (Mixed dish of Vegetables). Talk about food coma!
Don’t want to be pressured to eat a lot in just an hour? They also have the 899 promo and the 999 to the max promo, which offers more food options than ever. We were able to try their 999 promo, and trust us when we say that we cannot breathe after eating. The 999 includes all the food from the previous promos, plus additional premium dishes, as well as a tempura platter. The food was amazing, hands down, and the staff were courteous and quick to accommodate when refills are needed or assistance when cooking the meat and seafood.
But of course, no meal is complete without its dessert selection. Offering a variety of Korean ice creams, this will surely end your meal right. From Melona to Pangtoa to Samanco, whatever your choice will be, I’m pretty sure that you’ll love it. They also have beers, soju cocktails, and other drinks, just in case you’re up for a party.
Aside from its unique ambiance, what would definitely make us go back is their delicious selection of food. The flavors were just right, and every dish is flavorful just as what you expect Korean food to be. The place is perfect for family and friends who just want to have a good time and enjoy a delectable meal together, and we highly recommend that you check this place out yourself.
