Strangeland Tour: Keane Live In Manila this October 2!

When In Manila, you should definitely not miss the Strangeland Tour of Keane this coming October 2, 2012 at the SM MOA Arena! It will be the first time that they will hold a concert here in the Philippines and that’s what all Keane fans (like myself) have been waiting for!

With their captivating  piano and synthesizer arrangements plus the melodramatic lyrics, Keane has been capturing the hearts of its fans all over the world. Keane is a British alternative rock band that has achieved mainstream success with the release of their first album Hopes and Fears back in 2004.

What I love about Keane is despite being a rock band, it has this distinct electronic sound with the piano as the main instrument when usually, rock bands have guitars as their main instrument. I also not only look on the engaging rhythm of songs but also in the content within the lyrics. Well, Keane is definitely not short of meaningful and enthralling lyrics.

Their songs are not the “I-get-the-meaning-right-away” type of songs. Keane’s songs are usually those that trigger contemplation and are open for interpretation. They speak of feelings with such musical artistry.

Keane consists of   Tim Rice-Oxley (piano etc.),  Jesse Quin (bass etc.), Tom Chaplin (vocals etc.),  and Richard Hughes (drums etc.). They now have 4 chart-topping albums and one mini-LP  in their discography, namely Hopes and Fears (2004), Under the Iron Sea (2006), Perfect Symmetry (2008), Night Train EP (2010), and their recently released album last May 2012, Strangeland.

Every Keane album has marked a clear progression from the previous one: the anxious emotional terrain mapped out by ‘Under The Iron Sea’; the iridescent poptimism of ‘Perfect Symmetry’ featuring the electro charged hit song ‘Spiralling’, voted Q Magazine’s 2008 Song Of The Year. But what next? (from https://www.keanemusic.com/keane-biography.php) After four years since their last album (Perfect  Symmetry), they come back with an album that is more focused on the songwriting aspect which departed from their experimentalism in the Perfect Symmetry album.

I am a little bias though. Most of the Keane songs I love are from the albums Hopes and Fears and  Strangeland.

Well, their new album is simply packed with new songs to love which I’m pretty sure they’ll play on October 2 (yay!). Let me share with you the ten songs that I hope will make it to Keane’s set list (*crosses fingers*):

Somewhere Only We Know
We Might As Well Be Strangers
Bend and Break
Bedshaped
Sovereign Light Cafe
Silenced By The Night
Disconnected
Strangeland
Day Will Come
Neon River
