Jim Paredes Gets Death Threat For Criticizing VP Binay

 

Social media has become a democratic place where everyone can share their opinions and thoughts on things. As long as they are not intentionally hurting anyone, they can post about anything. So when singer and APO Hiking Society member Jim Paredes tweeted his criticism on Vice President Jejomar Binay, it was surprising that he received a death threat on Twitter.

Paredes’ tweet was: “Binay’s decision not to attend the hearings and all his moves after that have been utterly disastrous. It seems he has everything to hide.”

The person who sent the death threat, identified as Rex Vincent, said: “Ikaw Mr. @Jimparedes Aalamin namin ang bahay mo dyan sa Manila. Salvage ang aabutin mo. Sa oras mag-mention ka pa uli kay @VPJojoBinay.”

The post has since been deleted, but the profile is still up. Rex Vincent describes himself as a “Lawyer, Civil Engineer, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of the Philippines.”

Paredes filed a complaint at Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Division, and released this statement on Facebook:
