The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ordered that jeepneys be granted a provisional increase to P8, while taxi rates will be reverting to its former base price, P40, after being brought down to P30 early last year.
The fare adjustments will take place on Thursday, or a day after the LTFRB has publicly informed the masses about these changes.
The increase in the jeepney fare will only be applicable in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.
Meanwhile, the P40 base fare in taxis will be implemented in Metro Manila, Cebu, Panay and in other areas where the Philippine National Taxi Operators Association is present.
