Instagram Now Supports Portrait, Landscape Formats!

Insta-size no more!!

Instagram just announced that their app now supports photos in portrait and landscape formats aside from the current square format, meaning no need to force yourself to resize or crop your photo to fit on Instagram!!

So just to be clear: they’re NOT removing the square option. So for those who still want their Instagram photos to be uniformly square, you’re still free to do so!

According to the post on the app’s blog:

Square format has been and always will be part of who we are. That said, the visual story you’re trying to tell should always come first, and we want to make it simple and fun for you to share moments just the way you want to. It turns out that nearly one in five photos or videos people post aren’t in the square format, and we know that it hasn’t been easy to share this type of content on Instagram: friends get cut out of group shots, the subject of your video feels cramped and you can’t capture the Golden Gate Bridge from end to end.

Instagram posted previews of what the new feature will look like:

At last, none of those pesky white spaces that you get from third-party resize apps!
