INSPIRING: Marikina Launches Trike for Senior Citizens and PWDs

The local government of Marikina City rolled out a special trike for seniors citizens and people with disability (PWDs) called Adaptive Mobile Vehicle (AMV).

The AMV was designed by Vice Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz. On his Facebook page, photos of the AMV were posted.

The AMV has a sidecar door that converts into a ramp so passengers, especially those who are on a wheelchair, can easily ride and alight the trike. The seats fold up so the wheelchair can fit. It has safety handle bars and rubberized flooring to ensure safety of the passengers.

The AMV runs at a maximum speed of 30kph.

Similar to ride-sharing services Uber and GrabCar, the AMV can be booked via mobile phones by senior citizens and PWDs in Marikina City who need a ride.

From Vice Mayor Cadiz’s post on Facebook, he wishes that other places in the country imitates this so many can benefit from it.
