INSPIRING: “Junkshop Boy” Graduates as Dean’s Lister, Writes Touching Message to His Parents

Every parent’s dream is to see their child/children persevere and finish their studies. Moreover, parents sacrifice a lot of things to ensure their future is secured through education.

Truthfully, we’ve shared heaps of inspiring stories of hardworking students, who prove that neither being underprivileged nor gaining early responsibility (teenage parenting) is never a hindrance to finishing studies and becoming successful in life.

In fact, for Jayvee Acorita Calayag, who used to work as a ‘junkshop boy,’ dreams do come true.

He started his “thank you” note to his parents with:

Nay, Tay.
Tay, Nay.

Thank you for all the SACRIFICES.

“It all started with a dream.”

He shared that he is blessed despite being underprivileged. He remembered how God gave him a second chance in life by letting him live after his operation. He believed that he still has a mission, which is to be with his family.

Maswerte sabi ng mga Doc, pero for me, I have a mission pa;syempre sa family ko.

In addition, he started working with his parents as a junkshop boy – meaning he had to look and dig into garbage bins or anywhere that have recyclable materials in exchange for money for food and other life materials.

Although, Jayvee helped his parents since High School, he decided to focus on his studies during college, which he was momentarily sorry.

Nevertheless, Jayvee graduated as a Dean’s Lister and probably the best gift a parent could ever have!

Here’s his tear-jerker “thank you” note to his loving parents.

Maswerte sabi ng mga Doc, pero for me, I have a mission pa;syempre sa family ko.

In God’s grace, di naman kami pinababayaan.
