There are many stories of bad experiences when riding a taxi in Metro Manila. Some of those shared with us include airport taxi fraud in NAIA, taxi spray modus or knockout gas in taxi, and taxi holdup. These stories gave birth to Taxikick, an app where you can report abusive taxi drivers.
Still, there are also good stories about riding taxi in the metro. There is the story of model taxi driver, Mang Eugenio. Another is the story about a taxi driver who returned a bag of valuables. Also, a taxi driver who had a funny conversation with a passenger who left their phone in the car and returned the phone back. And this cool karaoke taxi.
Adding to a list of good stories, our reader, Mark Dupra, wanted to share an inspiring story that happened to him recently.
Sumakay ako ng taxi sa Fairview Terraces. Tahimik lang si manong driver at nakikinig lang kami ng music sa radyo. So nakarating na kami sa bahay at pagbaba ko ng taxi di ko namalayan nalaglag na pala yung cellphone ko. Tiningnan ko yung bag ko wala din. Sobrang kinabahan nako kasi andun lahat ng importante sa buhay ko. Ramdam ko mabait si manong eh sana ibalik. So tinawagan ko yung number ko gamit yung phone ng kaibigan ko. After 2minutes nasagot agad.
Then sumagot ako. Hello po, ako po yung nakaiwan ng phone sa taxi niyo po
Taxi driver – ahhh opo sir tunog ng tunog at hinanap ko po kung saan. Nasa ilalim po ng upuan. Wait po sir nakapagsakay po kasi ako ihahatid ko lang po sa Lagro, hintayin niyo po ako dyan at ibabalik ko po dyan sa bahay niyo po sir.So naghintay ako sa bahay after 45mins may bumubusina. Pag silip ko sa gate isang taxi. Sabi ko siya na yata ito God. Nakita ko ulit siya sobrang nakahinga na ako ng maluwag.
Taxi driver: Sir eto na po yung phone niyo.
Napangiti ako kung tutuusin pwdng hindi niya na isoli phone ko as in suntok sa buwan na isosoli niya pa yun. Yung iba dyan nag eeffort pa para magnakaw pa siya hawak niya na pero mas pinili pa niyang isoli. Taas kamay ako sa inyo manong taxi driver. Grabe hindi ako nagkamali may mga taong mababait pa din talaga. Si God na bahalang magbigay ng reward sa yo. Iloveyou so much manong taxi driver
