INSPIRING: A ‘Blessing Bag’ in the Car for Those in Need

When in Manila and stuck in traffic, we often see a handful of people on the streets asking for help and begging for loose change.

We may feel that we want to help them but it can be scary at times if, despite having all the good intentions, things like this happen.

However, we think that goodness almost always trumps the bad. A heart-warming story shared by Love What Matters Facebook Page tells about a family that keeps a “blessing bag” in their car just in case they spot someone in need on the streets.

“This is what me and my daughter have started doing….We are keeping a “Blessing bag” in our car in case we find someone in need. You can make these up with items from the Dollar Tree such as gloves, thermal socks, beef sticks, crackers, candy bars, toothpaste, toothbrush, wipes, deodorant, snacks and other items that may help someone who is homeless or in a bad way. It is just a thoughtful, inspiring thing to do. This is something we are going to start doing from now on. Thank you to the ones that did this long before us, for being such a giving, loving, caring person! Random acts of kindness take very little to change the life of just one person.”

You can pack a few necessities in a bag like this and give it to someone while on the road. The help can go a long way. If you’re iffy about giving money, you can skip that replace it with food.
