The following day, we availed of the resort’s island hopping tour aboard the novelty that is the water taxi. Compared to an outrigger boat, this allows passengers to sit comfortably on benches. It’s also spacious enough as a deck for sightseeing, is very stable, and the sound of the engine was actually not trying to rip our ears off. This is perfect for small groups (about ten passengers).
And it couldn’t have been a more perfect day for snorkeling–the waters were teeming with marine life, the sun producing a rhythmic play of lights underneath the crystalline waters! We swam above corals gardens bursting with color and fish moving swiftly in all directions–giant clams, parrotfish, and clownfish were swimming in all directions! We LOVE being underwater and this leg of the trip definitely exceeded our expectations!
The better part is that these snorkeling spots were just about 15 minutes away from the resort–no need for lengthy (and noisy) boat rides that eat up everyone’s time. We visited at least three snorkeling spots and one sandbar within five minutes of one another. All this time, we only had a glimpse of White Beach as we were passing by.
Puerto Galera’s waters are crystal-clear and abundant with marine life. No wonder it’s one of the best places in the Philippines to be underwater!
We would have loved to see the Tamaraw Falls too, but I guess it’s a reason to go back. After all, we’ve barely scratched the surface of this gem of a province. So When in Manila and craving for a new Puerto Galera weekend, better make it Infinity!
HOW TO GET TO INFINITY RESORT:
The quickest way is to drive from Metro Manila to Batangas Port (2 hours) and ride a RORO from Batangas Port to Balatero Port in Oriental Mindoro (2 hours). From here, you may arrange for pickup with the resort. Pickups from Manila may also be arranged.
