Keep cool this summer with this homemade Magnum ice cream recipe

Summer is upon us, and we can’t get away from the heat in this tropical country. Not to worry! You can always snack on some ice cream to keep cool.

When talking about ice cream, one indulgent treat that comes to mind is Magnum. It features a rich, hard chocolate shell that gives way to silken, creamy vanilla ice cream when you bite into it. Some flavors come with nuts or caramel, too. No matter what version, though, crunching down on that thick chocolate shell is very, very satisfying.

For those who crave this decadent treat, we’ve got a recipe from KL Foodie, which we think is a great dupe for Magnum ice cream. The best part is that you only need five ingredients to make this! Check it out:

Homemade Magnum Ice Cream Hack

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Whipping Cream (or full cream milk)
  • 1/2 cup of Condensed Milk
  • 1 tsp of Ovalette
  • a dash of Vanilla Essence
  • 350g of Dark or Milk Chocolate

Procedures

  1. To make the ice cream, blend the Whipping Cream, Condensed Milk, Ovalette, and Vanilla Essence in a blender until it becomes soft and fluffy. It should double in size.
  2. In a pot, boil some water, and place a bowl over it. Put your chocolate in, and double boil it. After the chocolate melts, let it cool to room temperature.
  3. Transfer the chocolate into a piping bag, and evenly pipe some into the ice cream packet. You can use a plastic pouch or a popsicle mold for this.
  4. Add the ice cream mixture into the ice cream packet.
  5. Place it in the freezer for 5 to 6 hours. Enjoy!
