Wonder Woman is on a roll. Many are calling it the best DC Extended Universe film since The Dark Knight, and much of the praise has been heaped on Gal Gadot, the actress who plays the titular role. She’s beautiful, she’s charming (just check out all her interviews), and she can kick butt (she filmed Wonder Woman while five months pregnant). It’s breaking records, too: last February, Rotten Tomatoes ranked the film as the second best superhero movies of all time.
Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and director Patty Jenkins are already filming its sequel (titled Wonder Woman 1984) and the production released the first look of Cheetah, the villain to be portrayed by Kristen Wiig.
Wiig will be playing Barbara Ann Minerva, an archeologist obsessed with gaining treasures held by Diana Prince. She has the ability to transform into a human and cheetah hybrid.
The sequel will be set in the Cold War in the ’80s, and will find Diana Prince battling the Soviet Union and Cheetah.
Wonder Woman 1984 will be released Nov. 1, 2019.
