Many of us grew up reading Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time, the science fantasy novel first published in 1963. Now, it’s getting the film treatment and we have the first look below, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
For those who are not familiar with the story, A Wrinkle in Time follows young Meg Murry who goes on an adventure through time and space with her twin brothers and her friend to save her scientist father, who is held prisoner on another planet. It has won several awards and has been adapted into a TV film, an opera, a few plays, and a graphic novel.
The upcoming film adaptation is directed by Ava DuVernay and boasts a stellar cast, including Chris Pine, Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Zach Galifianikis. The young Meg will be played by newcomer Storm Reid.
The trailer is expected to premiere at the D23 Expo, the event of the official Disney fan club.
The film is expected to premiere in April 2018.
