For a little bit of Hello Kitty history, we found out that every girl’s famous fictional character was produced by the Japanese company Sanrio, first designed by Yuko Shimizu. Hello Kittty is portrayed as a female white Japanese bobtail cat with a red bow. The character’s first appearance on an item, a vinyl coin purse, was introduced in Japan in 1974 and brought to the United States in 1976. The character is a staple of the kawaii segment of Japanese popular culture. At age 36 as of 2010, Sanrio has groomed Hello Kitty into a global marketing phenomenon worth $5 billion a year.

I asked these lady ladies, who wore the Hello Kitty inspired clothes with the hope of winning a prize, to pose for me as I take their picture. They were very much willing to do so. There were only three ladies among our group who had the Hello Kitty shirts, while one guy brought along a Hello Kitty towel.

My fellow bloggers and I were given a special tour of the Hello Kitty attractions located at SM North EDSA. We had the opportunity to touch and hug the enormous Hello Kitty dolls and their houses at the Hello Kitty village and were even allowed to have a closer look and took pictures inside their houses.

Wow! This Hello Kitty doll was even bigger than me!

@pinoytekkie of  http://wazzuppilipinas.blogspot.com  sitting right beside Hello Kitty was fun and interesting….Lol! Coz deep inside I really wanted to hug her tight!

We also visited the area where they display the collection of famous personalities showcasing their Hello Kitty personal collections….and lastly, walked along the Hello Kitty trail until we reached the store where they sell all Hello Kitty merchandise. Let’s take a look at some of the Hello Kitty collection of famous personalities like DJ Nicole and Jillian Ward, and by collectors like Dianne Abella, Denise Lao, Nicole Beltran, Kate Navasero, Agnes Manalo and Abigail Dela Rama. We have a wide assortment of collectible toys, gadgets and merchandises inspired by the popular Sanrio characters.

There were a  lot of Hello Kitty collectibles like the popcorn maker, cotton candy maker, swimsuit, kitchen utensils, watches, jewelry, bags, bathroom accessories, and plenty of other interesting stuff with the Hello Kitty branding. It was simply a huge collection from just a few people. What more if we were able to put in all the collections of the entire population of the Philippines.

When in Manila, you’ll definitely regret it if you let this opportunity get wasted. If I were you, I would immediately drop by SM City North EDSA and witness for myself the marvelous exhibit of Hello Kitty merchandises. Perfect to bring along the kids as they will surely enjoy this colorful spectacle agreeable to all regardless of age, sex or race. There’s even a Meet and Greet with the Hello Kitty mascot herself, plus other Hello Kitty activities scheduled for the entire Christmas season. The excitement will only lasts until January 6 so once again, head on over to SM City North EDSA and enjoy the many Hello Kitty attractions.
