Have You Experienced the Thrill of the Trail? Trail Running Rocks!

Have you ever experienced the thrills and spills of trail running?  WhenInManila.com was so glad to participate in Natures Trail Discovery Run III Leg 2 which was my 4th trail run within the year and easily the hardest.  However, it was also the most rewarding as the glorious scenery below speaks for itself.

WhenInManila.com was pre-warned by Alvin from Pimco Sporting Events as to the degree of difficulty involved in this particular trail run: “THIS IS TRAIL RUNNING! THIS IS EXTREME SPORT! THIS IS NTDR III TRILOGY CHAMPIONSHIP. SEE YOU!”  The course was an already difficult (some might say dangerous) one, but overnight rain made it even tougher!

Alvin was 100% correct with around 25 of the 150 starters finishing the 21km course (there were 5km, 10km and 30km categories too) in the prescribed 7 hours.  Despite this the participants loved it all and will be back for the next one.  There were no complaints as these trail warriors understand that it is simply the nature of the trail and it is in the trail runner’s creed.

This is the spectacular view (courtesy of Del Villanueva) at 727 meters was part of the 1600 meters elevation gain and meant our 22.5km trail run was equivalent to a 38km run in the city (but with fresh air and glorious views overlooking the Laguna de Bay and other surrounding towns and the Kabayo falls).
