Have You Been to Lakawon Island in Negros Occidental?

Lakawon Island (1)

Lakawon island resort is newly developed island resort located on a banana-shaped island off the coast of Cadiz in Negros Occidental. It boasts a relaxing view, pristine water, and white sand beach. Apparently, it is a new must-see destination in the Philippines.

The term “Lakawon” means “to walk” from the Cebuano root word “lakaw”. Therefore, during low tide, its sand bar appears and you can literally walk a long distance of white sand beach from the main island.

Lakawon is located 48 kilometes from Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental.

It is accessible from the coast of Barangay Cadiz Viejo via a 20-minute boat ride. It is dubbed as the Boracay of Negros due to its powdery white sand beach.

Contrary to what we know, technically the island is more of a sandbar. The white sand beach faces Negros while the rugged and undeveloped side faces the open sea. There’s a small fishing village on Lakawon.
