Elusive chanteuse Mariah Carey kicked off her concert tour The Elusive Chanteuse Show, and her fans are not happy! For her first show in Tokyo, Japan, she sounded off-key and did not hit her high notes, which have become her trademark.
While singing her hits Hero and Always Be My Baby, she is seen clearly struggling, and sometimes giving up, with the notes that she effortlessly pulled off in the past. Netizens wondered, is she losing her touch?
Many have suggested it comes with age, while others speculated it was because of her high-profile divorce to actor Nick Cannon after six years of marriage. But an unnamed representative from Carey’s camp said they only heard good reviews from fans.
After Japan, she will perform in South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and then the Philippines. She will fly to Thailand after, then wrap up the concert in New Zealand and Australia.
