I’ve always been on the prowl for good steak restaurants and I am proud to have found a few. Little did I know, that another steak restaurant had been quietly tucked away in Ortigas for the past 2 years. It was only when a good friend adviced me to visit Hai Chix and Steaks that I got the chance to taste their mouthwatering meals.

Hai Chix and Steaks first opened shop 2 years ago near Ortigas Home Depot, come November 2013, they opened their second branch at SM Jazz Residences in Makati. Hai Chix, (short for Hainanese Chicken) and Steaks may sound rather odd, after all, how often do you come across a restaurant that specializes in both Hainanese Chicken and Steak right? According to one of its owners, Chef Joma Tuano, the main idea was to open a steak restaurant as this was their specialty. However, with all the hype for Hainanese Chicken 2 years ago, they decided to give it a twist and turn their idea around . You see at Hai Chix and Steaks, they promise to bring you the best dishes from east to west as they continuously grow.

Hai Chix and Steaks: Butter Garlic Shrimp (P250)
Butter Garlic Shrimp is very common in several restaurants, especially seafood places such as Dampa and others. Of all the restaurants I’ve been to, the butter in this dish often overpowers the shrimp. As unhealthy as that sounds, we all somehow loved it that way. I never thought there was any other way to cook this dish ’till I tried Hai Chix and Steaks take on what Butter Garlic Shrimp should really taste like!

All ingredients were mixed well to come up with the delicious flavor. For the first time, the shrimp was not swimming in butter and tasted better than ever!
Hai Chix and Steaks: Spinach Cream
The Spinach Cream is something new and is currently not yet in their menu. We were honored to be one of the first to test it out. The Spinach Cream is creamy and simply delicious. The ingredients were blended in a way that made it soft enough to spread, but not too soft that it loses it’s texture. It’s a great way to start off your meal and definitely something you have to try.

Hai Chix and Steaks: BBQ Back Ribs – Full Rack (P700)
Baby Back Ribs are usually served with barbecue sauce spread all over it. Though most people prefer it this way, this method has caused me to stop liking most ribs. Some restaurants just put too much sauce that I can no longer enjoy the natural flavor of the ribs. Thankfully at Hai Chix and Steaks, our ribs were serve sizzling in its own sauce. The barbecue sauce was served separately, giving you a choice as to how much you want to put.
