Last October 14, Google Developers Group Philippines (GDG PH) held its annual event,  DevFest Philippines, at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City. Dubbed as the Grandest Tech Event of 2017 in the country, it featured learning sessions and activities on various technology platforms.

DevFest’s promise? It will be brighter and better, as GDG PH is also celebrating its 10th year anniversary. Indeed, it was. Five one-hour talks were simultaneously held in 4 different breakout rooms; the participants had the opportunity to choose from more than 20 learning sessions. Moreover, a community lounge was made available, enabling interaction between the speakers and participants for further collaboration.

There were tech ed sessions on emerging technologies, design, cloud and dev ops, distribution, and core technologies; it also featured a speaker roster from reputable organizations and institutions, Google included.

Around 600 participants of different mastery on various tech platforms attended the event and about half of them are developers of different platform and languages, the other half were students, designers, data scientists, managers, CTOs and CEOs. All of which are of different ages.

Google Developers Group Philippines is a group of Filipino developers and tech enthusiasts, and DevFest is only one of the many community-based learning activities it holds. Since its founding in 2007, they have brought developers and tech enthusiasts together through various events such as the Women Techmakers 2017, Android Masters, and campus roadshows. GDG PH promises to help Filipino developers be better developers by enabling everyone into these kinds of events.
