Global Beer Prices: Manila Ranks One of the Cheapest

Global Beer Prices Manila Ranks One of the Cheapest

Because of the tropical climate in the Philippines, beer is one of the widely-consumed drinks in the country, especially during parties. We Filipinos are a social bunch, so we like to gather around buckets of beer, enjoying the company with ice-cold libations. There’s another reason why many of us are drinking beer: it’s one of the world’s cheapest.

In the 2015 Beer Price Index prepared by GoEuro, a Berlin-based travel website that guides travelers on their spending abroad, Manila ranks as the 15th most affordable beer in a list of 75 cities. According to their website, they collected their data by comparing the five most commonly imported beer (GoEuro did not state the five beer brands) and the main local beer.

Based on the Index, Poland’s Krakow has the world’s most affordable beer, priced at $1.66 (roughly P74.79), while the most expensive goes to Switzerland’s Geneva, where a bottle is priced at $.6.32 (roughly P284.74). Manila’s average price for a bottle of beer is $2.28 (roughly P102.72).
