Millennial Entrepreneurs Bridge the StartUp Divide Between New York and Manila
Fullwave, a Philippine based startup focusing on novel initiatives towards cultivating entrepreneurial action, formally announced their Fullwave Tech & Startups Expo at the Mapúa Institute of Technology.
After working in Manila’s local tech community, the team became aware of the necessity of reinvigorating the local startup community by providing aspiring entrepreneurs an unprecedented networking and developmental experience that strays from the standard convention.
They surmised that the most effective way of addressing this deficiency was by throwing a celebration of everything tech, development, startup, and entrepreneur related within the heart and soul of the Philippines tech epicenter. Fullwave’s initial foray into the Filipino StartUp Community is a combination of a New Yorker’s “work hard, play hard” attitude towards business, and the youthful abundance and resolution that comes from a talented aggregate of young millennials ready to engage international audiences. Following the successes of Jonathon Francis,CoFounder of Elite Daily, the second most popular millennial website in the US that was acquired in 2015, and Ace Velarde, the founder of the STW Family of Companies, both agreed that the Philippines had something unique and compelling that resonated with their personal beliefs.
“Our core mission focuses on being the bridge from NYC to Manila adding the hustle and business savvy of New York to the aspiring and rapidly growing startup community and providing the tools and resources needed to build successful businesses” commented Jonathon Francis on weaving the fabric of the Fullwave expo. “Our strategy is connecting investors, developers, founders, and culture in a way that will allow us to not only fuel the startup community, but to also give handson operational support to bring startups to success” Further emphasize by Ace Velarde.
Fullwave’s event at Mapúa will center on following these core tenets that should resound within aspiring entrepreneurs worldwide:
- Anyone, regardless of social standing, can make startup culture successful
- To liberate from traditional structures
- To find opportunity wherever it may present itself
- Pride and conviction in achieving your own path
Some of the highlights of the event are the Hackathon and Startup Conference with Panel discussion on How to build a company from an idea to inception, Lean Startup Mentality, Policy Making, Disruptive Technologies, The Rise of Intelligent Things, Internet of Things for Education, Women in Tech and a lot more.
The event will be on October 14 – 15 to be held at Mapúa Institute of Technology in Manila and will host some of Southeast Asia’s most prominent VC’s, investors, entrepreneurs, startups, and developers. This is open to all college students and professionals.
