The English-Speaking Union (ESU) Philippines in partnership with Far Eastern University’s (FEU) Student Development will host the 16th Search for the Philippine Representative to the 2017 International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC) of the ESU in London on February 4 at the University Conference Center, FEU Manila campus.
Sixty high school and university students are expected to vie for the country’s most prestigious public speaking tilt. Each contestant will deliver a five-minute speech on the theme, “To define is to limit.” Top three speakers emerging from the three knockout rounds will again compete in the Grand Finals on February 11 in FEU Makati and tackle the theme “Peace is not an absence of war.”
The ESU is an international educational charity and membership organization dedicated to honing English communication skills and confidence. Its Philippine chapter has joined the IPSC since 2002. The Philippines has produced two world champions: Patricia Evangelista in 2004 and GianDapul in 2008. Last year’s national winner Marco Del Vallecopped the global runner-up award.
The 2017 ESU National Search will be hosted by FEU for the third consecutive time, subsidized by Shell and supported by British Council Philippines. WhenInManila.com and Kami.com.ph are media partners.
