Pinoy pride once again!
Filipino-Australian singer Cyrus Villanueva just made it to the top 5 of X-Factor Australia, as he impressed judges with his rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”, according to various reports.
Reports also said that his performance drew a standing ovation from the judges, which included James Blunt, Guy Sebastian, Chris Isaak, and Dannii Minogue.
James Blunt even reportedly said that he has caught the “Cyrus Virus”, adding “The question is not what you can sing, but what you can’t sing”, while Dannii told Cyrus that “Sometimes this show just catches people in their prime and all the stars align”.
Last year, another Fil-Australian made history on the show, as Marlisa Punzalan walked away as the youngest contestant ever to win X-Factor Australia at 16 years old.
