Known for connecting fun-loving music fans together, Fête de la Musique Philippines has set out its wares for its 22nd edition on June 18, 2016.
Fête de la Musique’s co-producer Ziera De Veyra and the rest of Mambo Rat Productions will host another night packed with nothing but the best blues, soul, and funk bands in the country to date. Aimed at highlighting the genre’s growing community, 2016 marks Mambo Rat’s fifth year of handling the blues-soul-funk stage and is set to be another celebration of music in a multitude of guises. Representing varying shades and intensities of blues, soul, and funk, 16 bands will be showcased at H&J Sports Bar and Restaurant starting 4:00 p.m. sharp until the wee hours of the night.
The roster offers something for fans of the ever-evolving genre. The Blues-Soul-Funk Stage has signed seven new bands to its lineup, some of them already making waves in the music circuit. Making their #FêteBluesSoulFunk debut are The Venus Flytrap Collective, Tukar Sinati, Plan of Fools, The Espasouls,
Blue Way, Hot Club of Manila, and The Five Five Itch. The announcement also includes yearly staples Chillitees and Ian Lofamia Band, and other returning favorites Hoochie Coochie Mikkie, Pasay Jazz, Lady High, Chocolate Grass, Kosmikskala, Conscious & The Goodness, and Mean Jay.
When asked why people should go to H&J, De Veyra said, “Ever since we started, the Blues-Soul-Funk Stage has always been the music lovers’ go-to place. It’s where the musicians and fans go when they’re done cycling through different stages or when the performers are finished in their respective venues. Kasi mapa-tito, mapa-bago nandito. Ha ha! Yung mga luma and bagong musicians nasa isang stage,
three genres and beyond. As much as possible, Fête dela Musique goers should also check out the different stages, but they’re more than welcome to stay at H&J.”
Aside from the free music, Alfonso Platinum, who has been strongly supporting this stage since 2013, will hold a free sampling of their products, while Oishi! will be giving away snacks. Juan Brew will also be selling craft beer at a special price of Php100.
