Feel the Spirit of Sunshine at Sunshine Kitchen

Oh, Sunshine Kitchen, you’ve done it again. You little cutie, you. You always have a trick up your sleeves.

You’ve made us salivate and crave for your pasta and pizzas. And then you wowed us with your Iron Wagyu Steak.

And this time, you’re satisfying our thirst with your spirits.

But first, can I just say: the place… izzz so purty!  (Sober translation: It’s so pretty!)

Sunshine Kitchen

Sunshine Kitchen teamed up with Sir Tim Walters of Barmansmix to craft something extraordinary – the Sunshine Spirits. What better way to celebrate good food than with great drinks, right? The Sunshine Spirits are carefully handcrafted with only the freshest of ingredients just like Sunshine Kitchen’s food!

Tim Walters also made signature cocktails for 71 Gramercy! Read here: 71 Gramercy : Reasonably Priced Dining by a Superstar Chef and the Best View of the City At Night

Sunshine Spirits #1: A pear-fect drink

Sunshine Kitchen introduced their new array of drinks with a bang starting with A pear-fect drink, a mix of Absolut Pear Vodka, Organic Guyabano & Spiced Cardamom. It has a very strong smell similar to fruity perfumy soap and is paired with pan seared shrimp and mushrooms (too bad, I was not able to sample that!). The drink was the ultimate talk of the night, though, and was hailed as our table’s favorite drink.

Sunshine Spirits #2: Tea-to-taler

Tea-to-taler is a play on gin and tonic. It’s not to be confused with the word teetolaler, though – a person who never drinks alcohol (boo!). It is a mix of Tanqueray Gin, English breakfast tea, cranberry & crisp tonic. It’s some kind of awesome if you think about it, tea and alcohol together. It was my favorite drink of the night, simply because of how light it is and how it kinda tastes like iced tea. Just my type of drink for a happy night – alcohol buzz on a slow pace… then you get wasted all at once.

Btw, it’s paired with chicken and mushroom vol au vent! Yummy!

Sunshine Spirits #3: The sun also rises

My gashhdddd, the Bourbon! (Sober translation: My god, the Bourbon! ) Another concoction with tea, but the bourbon definitely won. The sun also rises is a mix of Makers Mark Bourbon, earl grey tea and muddled cantaloupe melon. It’s paired with Bourbon & Thyme Liver Pate with Warm Caramel Apple – definitely a match made in heaven because the flavors complement each other perfectly. The liver pate was devoured as soon as the plate landed on our table.

Sunshine Spirits #4: Outlaw

All I can say is Bravo! Sunshine Kitchen thought of a good way to spice things up. And I literally mean spice. This drink is made from red watermelons, 100% Agave, 1800 Reposado Tequila… and Spicy Chillies! What an outlaw. It’s paired with grilled mushrooms with feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, mixed greens with honey balsamic glaze to balance things up.

Sunshine Spirits #5 Delux

A strong drink and by definition only for the luxurious or delux – of a superior kind. It is Hennessey French brandy and English legend Pimm’s with passionfruit. Tim Walters taught us to use our eyes, nose and taste on this baby – the eyes for visual stimulation (“The drink looks interesting, orangey”), the nose for smell (“It smells like a tropical summer!”) and the taste for the palate (” BRANDYYYYYYYYYYY!!”)  for the overall experience. It is paired with Asian Style Cerviche of Mackarel with fried Pappadum. I enjoyed taking off pieces of the pappadum to scoop up the cerviche. Good job, Sunshine Kitchen!

Sunshine Spirits #6: Cup full of Sunshine

Cup full of Sunshine is made for sharing. If you are committed, you can share it with your SO and if you’re single, you can share it with yourself.. and your sorrows. Either way, it’s a win-win situation. It’s a really big cup brimming with Don Pappa Rum, ginger casis, dry noilly prat and tropical juices. It’s paired with Sunshine Kitchen’s mixed seafood pizza with anchovies. I luuuuvved the pizzahh very muchh (Sober translation: I loved the pizza very much!)

Sunshine Spirits #7

Sunshine Kitchen introduced another secret drink for the night, as if the night needed to get any more awesome. The little sister Cup full of Sunshine, ladies and gentlemen. No pairings this time. Not meant for sharing like her bigger sister. This one is for the happy single guys and gals.

Sunshine Kitchen

Sunshine Kitchen is also offering samplers of their drinks, so you can try all of their spirits in one go if you want. Now you can get as buzzed as I was! 🙂
