Exclusive Island Club Resort Responds to Yaya Meals “Hullabaloo”

A few days ago, we posted a story about an exclusive island club resort that offers “yaya meals”, which earned a lot of flak online.

This was due to a post by former Miss World-Philippines and fashion designer Maggie Wilson-Consunji on Facebook that says:

Here was the incident:
My mom, connor and his nanny, Nanay Belen went to have breakfast this morning. Our nanny ordered her meal and my mom wanted the same thing. The waiter said “Oh, hindi pwede ma’am, kase that’s a “yaya’s meal”.

So when I checked with management they said that they won’t stop the yaya’s from ordering what they want. Which is true because we been here for 3 days and not once was our nanny told she couldn’t order what she wanted. But they do however have such a thing as a “yaya’s meal”, the waiter that served them was clearly not informed correctly. But still, the fact that there are people who don’t want their yaya’s to eat whatever they want to is beyond me. Hence the resort having to offer a “yaya’s meal”. I still find that offensive.

Fast forward to today, the said exclusive island club resort responded to all the yaya meals “hullabaloo”, as they call it, with a post on their Facebook page.

Here’s what they said:

Balesin Yaya Meals

Trying to clear up the yaya meals issue, the said post still earned a lot of comments from netizens. Some were irked for the use of the term “hullabaloo” on the said statement.

Some still believe that there should be a better term used for it instead of “yaya meals”.
