Who’s excited for ‘A Second Chance‘ to come to cinemas on Wednesday? Or who isn’t, really?
8 years after the hit ‘One More Chance’ stole hearts and provided hugot lines galore, Popoy and Basha are back yet again to create even more magic on-screen.
We were lucky enough to sneak in a super quick exclusive interview with John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo after their mall show at Fairview Terraces today and chat about Manila and the upcoming movie a little bit.
Without a doubt, there is immense pressure on everyone involved in the film, seeing as how well the first one went. Both John Lloyd and Bea admit that there is some pressure, but more than anything, there is excitement involved in the movie.
As to why it took so long for a sequel to come out, John Lloyd explains, “Popoy and Basha needed that time away from the audience to grow, so that they have new stories to tell.” Bea points out that Popoy and Basha were actually together for a long time before the first movie came out, proving that some time definitely needs to pass in order to tell a good story.
“Siyempre may pressure,” Bea admits, “pero may tiwala ako sa team namin and we have a great story to tell now that Popoy and Basha are married what with the new challenges they are facing in life.” John Lloyd and Bea are clearly very passionate about their new movie and we’re sure that we all will be, too!
When asked why they love Manila and what keeps them in the Philippines despite all of the problems that we face as a country, both John Lloyd and Bea agree that the answer is simple: “Manila is home.” John Lloyd expounds, “Even when you go to another beautiful country, you’ll feel homesick and miss Manila and all of the problems in it.
It really is home.”
And oh, I’m sorry, I just have to say it: when John Lloyd found out I was from When in Manila, he gushed, “Oh, WhenInManila.com! I always visit your site and read your articles.” To say that I was the happiest person leaving Fairview Terraces tonight is definitely an understatement.
