Bulacan State University’s Architectural Students’ Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL-BulSU) and Circle of Landscape Architecture Students (CLAS-BSU) is planning something big this year. As the only school in Bulacan that offers degrees in architecture and landscape architecture, the pressure is ON to help craft competent future Bulakenyo architects.

The Theme.

The growing economy brought several problems in the already messy Metro Manila. Roads are congested with vehicles; ordinances change time after time to adjust with everything; drainage and roads are under construction; like the whole city is in a clean and organized shambles to adjust with the increasing demands of space. “EVOLVE (stylized as EVOLVƎ): Traverse Urban Planning Quandaries and Unveil Methodological Future” is a seminar that aims to equip the future planners in facing the future with skills, capable of solving these existing problems and those that are yet to rise through methodologies and theories in urban planning and design. As G.I Joe said, “Knowing is half the battle.”

The Speakers.

ASAPHIL & CLAS is about to bring a set of highly regarded people from the field on their upcoming seminar.

The current chairperson of the United Architects of the Philippines – Emergency Architects (UAP – EA), Ar. Stephanie Gilles. Leading a dynamic service-oriented group of architects with a spirit of volunteerism to help disaster-stricken communities towards infrastructure recovery and rehabilitation, Ar. Steph has a lot to share about Greening the Cities Through Sustainable Lifestyle. She is also the principal architect of SNG Design Enterprise.

Next in line is a former instructor from BulSU’s College of Architecture and Fine Arts, TAMPEI’s (Technical Assistance Movement for People and Environment) executive director and community architect, Ar. Emelyn Bermundo. In her field of practice, she had already packed a lot of lessons in Design Development for the Urban Poor Community, ready to be shared few days from now.

A product of U.P Diliman’s College of Architecture and School of Urban & Regional Planning, L. Arch. Rondell Gascon is and instructor in Bulacan State University and Mapua Institute of Technology. Brimming with knowledge in the Future of the Built Environment, L. Arch. Gascon’s talk will surely open young minds ready to the profession.
