EURYTHMY PHILIPPINE TOUR 2012

This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Eurythmy.  For every human being, Rudolf Steiner – the founder of this Movement Art, created movement tools.  These tools enable one to develop movements for the physical body, inner energy, inner moods and the individual spiritual core.

Etymologically, the word “Eurythmy” is derived from the root prefix, “eu” which means,

“true”, “harmonious” or healthy”. It is a form of movement that directly makes speech

and music visible as well as providing “tools” that enable one to develop movements

for the physical body, inner energy, inner moods and the Individual spiritual core.

Eurythmy evokes the inner vitality within to feel one’s potentialities as an engaged,

HUMAN BEING in Thinking, Feeling and Willing.

Benefits

Those who are watching a Eurythmy performance can experience a subtle stirring from within which nourishes the life force of the body.  To understand the concept of life force, let us think of a comatose individual.  He is not conscious but we know he is alive.  What makes him “alive” is the life force still moving inside him.

Experiencing Eurythmy– even if it’s just watching a presentation–will awaken an impulse in children or teenagers (even adults) to move in a healthy way.  This is very important especially in this time of computers and play stations that promote too sedentary a lifestyle.

It will be ideal for the elderly to experience Eurythmy to awaken the faculties necessary for a spiritual journey.  It will encourage the elderly to start letting go of attachments to materiality which makes transition to afterlife easier.

Performance

This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Eurythmy.  For every human being, Rudolf Steiner – the founder of this Movement Art, created movement tools.  These tools enable one to develop movements for the physical body, inner energy, inner moods and the individual spiritual core.

We have a great opportunity to present Eurythmy live on stage this year. The ArteNova Eurythmy Ensemble, a youth project from Switzerland, will go on tour in the Philippines in October 2012.  They have been invited by the first Eurythmy Basics Training Group in Manila which has been training with Ms. Tanja Baumgartner of Basel, Switzerland since 2009.

*Eurythmy draws on the movements and living energy of the human etheric body as impetus for the physical body’s gestures. Since the etheric body is larger and more diffuse than the physical body, any effects arising from etheric streams of energy, as invoked in the human etheric body through eurythmy speech gestures, should also be demonstrable outside the physical body.

How did the idea arise to treat plants with eurythmy? Since 1987, Tanja Baumgartner has been giving one-to-one eurythmy therapy sessions. The people she treated were in no doubt that eurythmy movements are beneficial for body and soul. From this arose a need to find tangible proof of such effects. Tanja Baumgartner therefore decided to undertake plant trials and began the first of these on wisteria seeds in the summer of 2002.

Scientific collaboration began following initial research and discussions with the physicist Stephan Baumgartner, who has worked for many years at the University of Bern on germinating cress seeds as “indicator organisms” for subtle environmental influences, The cress seeds used in the experiments  responded to the eurythmy speech sounds B (earth) and L (water) with, as expected, either inhibition or expansion of growth.

Based on these initial results, a three-year research project began under the auspices of KIKOM (complementary medicine research) at Bern University, to investigate the effects of eurythmy speech gestures.
