The clash is Marawi isn’t over yet. It has taken a lot of lives on both sides. It has injured many.
Recently. Soleen Heussaff shared on her blog how visiting the wounded soldiers of Marawi changed her life.
She calls them heroes “who literally break themselves for you and me.”
“I can’t help but think that if only more of us had the character of these heroes, the world would be a much better place. If only we were less selfish, less hateful, and more grateful and more persevering,” she added.
Solenn mentioned that she was particularly touched by the story of the soldier who lost his ability to see due to this war. The soldier has been very grateful for Solenn’s visit as he kept telling her that he was glad that she dropped by.
However, this puzzled Solenn and said, “I couldn’t understand how he could still be so grateful, while I was feeling so much anger for him deep inside.
”
Solenn wrote about her experience visiting the Marawi soldiers because she firmly believes that their stories should be told.
We should all be thankful of them.
